2. Move Your Existing Number to DoorIO

If you want DoorIO to manage the number directly, an eligible existing number can be transferred, or “ported,” to DoorIO.

Your customers continue calling the same number — the difference is that the number becomes part of your DoorIO phone setup.

  • We'll verify that you control the number.
  • We'll need information and documentation from your current phone company.
  • The transfer takes time and is not instantaneous.
  • Keep your current phone service active until the transfer is confirmed.

What if my business number is my cell phone?

That's common. If your business number is also a cell phone you use every day, we'll review how you currently use it before changing anything.

Depending on your carrier and the setup you want, you may be able to forward calls into DoorIO while continuing to use your phone. Moving the business number to DoorIO may ultimately be the cleaner solution.

Forwarding all calls changes where incoming calls ring. Making outgoing calls through your cell phone company is a separate part of the setup. Forwarding options vary by carrier and number.

Want to Text Customers Too?

Business texting has additional carrier-registration requirements. If you want to send and receive business text messages through DoorIO, we'll help you complete the required messaging registration (A2P registration) before texting is activated.

This registration is for business texting. It isn't required merely to forward voice calls.
